Dr. Alima Palmer, LPC, PHD
I am a culturally sensitive & committed licensed psychotherapist with over 25 years’ experience working with diverse populations and scenarios. I am a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), with other multiple certifications and have worked in various capacities and phases of mental health (such as, outpatient adult and child services, family therapy, substance use treatment, emergency services coordinator, and more). This includes private and government agencies, diverse individuals, families, groups, and individuals and families affected by crisis and traumatic event internationally. Professionally, I am passionate about demystifying concerns relating to emotional health and personal wellbeing by forming therapeutic partnerships with those who need to make healthy adjustments and meaningful transitions to maintain independence in their natural environment. I believe that you are the expert on your own experiences, and I endeavor to meet the individuals and families where they are in their unique emotional journey through tailored and focused holistic psychotherapy that utilize various theoretical models, such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength based, mindfulness, Family Systems Theory, Narrative/Talk therapy, and Person-Centered approach to explore and remove barriers to personal health and wellness.
My thought is that therapy is a unique partnership that requires trust, commitment & effort.
In therapy, my aim is to utilize an eclectic (Mind, body, and soul) approach to offer the individual psycho education, counseling, and skills development to resolve issues they are dealing with by actively listening to their needs and challenges in a bias free and safe setting where they can release, process, learn new ways of thinking/believing to effectively resolve problems in their daily living.
